St Cuthbert's Cross Country Runners

Distance runners have a special kind of determination and discipline. They have   to train for many hours in all kinds of weather and this year, the hard work of College runners is paying off.

At the New Zealand Secondary Schools’ Cross Country in Christchurch last week, Audrey Gregan (our College champ) won 2nd place and was selected for the New Zealand team. This tops off a fantastic season for Audrey, who won both the Central Zone and Auckland Secondary Schools Cross Country competitions.
And earlier in the year at the Auckland Secondary Schools’ Cross Country our senior girls 3-person team (made up of Audrey, Charlotte Jackson and Alex Beggs) won their event, as did our intermediate 6-person team of Sophie Rees, Tessa Wylie, Gabriele Hawkins, Rose Fitzgerald, Kayla Fairburn and Kate Ivory. We also had winners in the junior girls event at the NZSS champs.

A team of Tessa Wylie, Gabriele Hawkins and Kate Ivory won the 3-person race and along with Devon Lowyim, Samantha Moriarty and Rose Fitzgerald, came 2nd in the 6-person team event.
