Incoming Principal, Charlotte Avery

Published April 19, 2024

We have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know incoming Principal Charlotte Avery over the past few days at St Cuthbert’s, ahead of her official start date in August. She is in New Zealand on sabbatical and has spent time connecting with students and staff, as well as discovering all the amazing things on offer here. Between now and the end of her visit in May, Charlotte has student workshops with all our students which are focused on learning directly from our girls, in their own words.

Charlotte and her family are immersing themselves in Kiwi culture too, including a recent trip to the Bay of Islands. A Water Polo game was on the agenda marking the first time Charlotte has watched Water Polo, and what a great game to start with as St Cuthbert’s won the Auckland Premier grade!

Charlotte says “St Cuthbert’s is truly impressive. I have spent time with the girls from the youngest to the oldest and found them to be delightful, curious and capable young women who are a credit to this wonderful school and its staff. I am very much looking forward to starting a new chapter here in August and to our exciting future together.”

While her official start date is not until later this year, we can see how Charlotte lives by our motto, “By Love Serve” and has Black Watch tartan in her heart.
