Our student’s futures matter. We empower students to take ownership of their journey, with tailored support for academic choices, career pathways, and university applications
We believe in supporting our students to shape their futures with confidence and purpose. Our dedicated Futures Team provides comprehensive advice throughout each student’s journey, from supporting discussions around subject choices to university applications and career exploration through our comprehensive programme of speakers.

A Bespoke Approach
Beginning in Year 10, our students benefit from one-on-one meetings with our specialised Futures advisors. These ongoing conversations build a solid foundation for informed decision-making about subjects, tertiary education options, and career pathways. We take the time to understand each student’s unique interests, strengths, and aspirations, tailoring our guidance to help them achieve their goals.
“When your Year 13 daughter walks out of the St Cuthbert’s gates on her last day, she will be fully equipped for her future and ready to pursue her chosen path. Her life tools will be well-honed, her values strongly embedded, and her bond with friends cemented forever.”
Charlotte Avery, Principal
University Preparation
The Futures Team provides expert support with university applications, both domestic and international. We guide students through every aspect of the application process, from course selection to personal statements, interviews, and scholarship applications. Our comprehensive approach ensures students are well-prepared to take their next steps with confidence.
St Cuthbert’s regularly host New Zealand and off-shore universities visits to the school, supporting students to understand campus life and the different academic environments. These visits help demystify tertiary education and enable students to envision themselves in these settings, making more informed choices about their future pathways.

Industry Connections
Our vibrant programme of career events connects students with professionals from diverse fields. Through career breakfasts, evening mentoring events, and our annual expo alongside Auckland Grammar, students gain valuable insights into various professions and build meaningful connections with potential mentors and employers.
Throughout the year we welcome a range of distinguished speakers who share their career journeys, challenges, and successes. These inspiring talks provide students with real-world perspectives on different industries and career paths, helping them to imagine new possibilities for their own futures.
