Sports

Sports at St Cuthbert’s is about giving every girl the opportunity to be physically active.

As well as the importance for her overall wellbeing, we use Sports to help navigate girls through some of life’s greatest lessons which are often learned when playing in a team. Whether she’s playing sport socially or at high-performance level, your daughter will learn commitment and teamwork as well as important life skills such as resilience and perseverance.

With more than 30 Sports on offer, St Cuthbert’s girls can try their hand at everything from individual pursuits like Cycling, Tennis and Swimming to team Sports such as Football, Hockey, Netball and Water Polo.

As an all-girls’ school, we specifically tailor our programmes to bring out the best in each girl. Your daughter will feel less inhibited and more willing to try new sports and activities in an environment which is inclusive, encouraging and above all, fun.

What’s more, our girls have the benefit of a range of highly experienced coaches – many of whom are Old Girls who have competed at international level and donate time to coach and mentor our students, providing inspiration for future stars.

Social Sport

Being an all-girls school means we specifically tailor our programmes to bring out the best in each girl. Our girls are less inhibited and willing try new sports and activities in an environment which is inclusive, encouraging and above all, fun. With the focus on simply being involved for fun and fitness our girls are encouraged to join team sports – we have 100s of teams and we work with each girl to find her the ‘just-right’ fit. With over 30 sports on offer, every girl can find her niche and a sport that she can enjoy, socially or competitively, well into the future.

Competitive Sport

Our Sports Programmes also support girls who want to seriously pursue their sporting passion and go as far as possible. They’ll benefit from bespoke training and support from some of New Zealand’s top coaches and will have the opportunity to pitch themselves against other top athletes in local, regional and national tournaments.  We’ll work with families to ensure balance across Academic and Sporting pursuits to ensure that girls are not putting themselves under unmanageable stress and to ensure each and every girls’ wellbeing is at the centre of her time at St Cuthbert’s.

Athlete Pathway Programme

The Athlete Pathway Programme (APP), managed by former Silver Ferns Captain, Anna Stanley, provides our top sportswomen with greater opportunities and resources to excel in their chosen fields. From Year 8 girls gain confidence, resilience and enhanced physical preparation and families have the peace of mind that APP support reduces the likelihood of non-contact injuries to protect growing girls whilst allowing them to hone their competitive edge.
