Developing caring, empathetic, and globally aware citizens through our commitment to service and community engagement.
At St Cuthbert’s, our motto “By Love Serve” is a living philosophy that resonates with every student and underpins our SERVICE values. Our students bring our values to life through contributing to service projects as part of their homerooms in the Junior School, and in tutor groups and Houses as they move into the Senior School.

Our SERVICE values are brought to life through meaningful actions that connect our students with the wider world and foster a spirit of compassion and responsibility. From our Junior School Values Representatives to our Senior School service programmes, we create opportunities for students to experience the transformative power of giving back.
These experiences help our students develop empathy, initiative, and a deeper understanding of social responsibility while making tangible differences in the lives of others. Through service initiatives, our students learn that even small acts of kindness can create ripples of positive change throughout our community and beyond.

Communities Feeding Communities Partnership
Our partnership with Communities Feeding Communities (CFC) in Mt Roskill exemplifies our commitment to addressing food insecurity in our community. Senior School students regularly collect and deliver essential food items and also experience the full service circle by helping distribute these donations.

Year 11 Service Programme
As our students prepare to move from Year 2 to Year 3, they participate in a special ceremony where they symbolically set aside the protective aprons of their early school years. This touching transition marks their growth and readiness for new independence as they progress through their educational journey.

Junior School Service Snapshot
Each Junior School class selects Values Representatives who embody our “By Love Serve” motto. These students meet weekly to communicate our school values to their classmates, thoughtfully selecting weekly certificates for girls who have demonstrated our service values. One of the most heartwarming aspects of this programme is their quarterly visits to Elizabeth Knox Home with teacher Sue Porter, where our Values Reps sing to elderly residents, creating meaningful intergenerational connections through the gift of music and presence.
Foodbank Collections
Our Junior School students learn the value of earning and giving by performing chores at home to earn money for foodbank donations. This initiative not only supports Communities Feeding Communities but also helps instil empathy and social responsibility from a young age.
Students are actively involved in packing and delivering items, allowing them to see firsthand the impact of their contributions. Starting this year, annual Year 5 trips to Communities Feeding Communities will further enhance this connection.
Easter Egg Collection
Our Junior School students bring joy to families in need through their Easter egg donations. These gifts, accompanied by handwritten notes from our students, are distributed through Presbyterian Support Northern to families who would otherwise not be able to afford them.
This initiative creates a special connection between our students and the broader community, reinforcing the impact of small acts of kindness.
Winter Warmer Campaign
Donations of warm pyjamas, blankets, sheets, and towels to De Paul House during the winter months.
Tog Collection
Annual donation of quality second-hand togs to Painga Project for students who would otherwise not have swimwear for school.
Wear What You Want Day
Quarterly fundraising events supporting charities like Mobility Dogs, Story Store, and K9 Medical Detection.
“Helping Hands” Christmas Gifts
Students personally select gifts to donate to Presbyterian Support Northern for children who might not otherwise receive Christmas presents.
