Congratulations to our Junior Debating team SCC 3 (Amber Zhou, Chloe Zhang, Ileana Hart-Daley and Meher Randhawa) who won the Auckland Junior Debating Championships on 3 and 4 August. Their path to victory included impressive wins against ACG Parnell in the quarter-finals, Auckland Grammar in the semis, and a nail-biting final against Rangitoto. A solid effort by St Cuths 1 who made the quarter finals but lost against Auckland Grammar.
Congratulations to the five debaters who made the top 10 speakers in the tournament, Cerisa Gu (1st), Daini Yue (2nd), Ileana Hart-Daley (4th equal), Claire Baek (8th equal), and Meher Randhawa (8th equal).
A big thank you to Catherine Barker, Rhonda Vink and Buino Vink for supervising and supporting the students. Also thanks to all the senior student coaches who have taught and mentored the junior debaters this year. Well done to all six Year 9 and 10 teams for their outstanding efforts.
