Over the past four days two St Cuthbert’s College rowers have attended the NZ Rowing Nationals at Lake Ruataniwha in Twizel. Hannah Piper (class 2024) and Zara Blackie competed in the Woman’s Novice double sculls event.
Clear favourites after their heat win on Tuesday, Hannah and Zara stormed to victory this morning to become NZ Champions in the Woman’s Novice Double. This is St Cuthbert’s first NZ Nationals title in rowing and their win was a clear 22 seconds ahead of Waikato in silver.
We are so proud of their result and wish the rest of the rowing team well as they head into the Aon Junior regatta at Lake Karapiro this weekend.
