St Cuthbert’s Announces 2025 Dux (NCEA), Dux (IB) and Proxime Accessit

The pinnacle of the Year 11-13 Senior Prize Giving is the announcement of the prestigious title of Dux, which goes to the most outstanding academic student for 2025, who is also a student that displays service and lives ‘By Love Serve’. This is being awarded to each of our qualification pathways resulting in a Dux NCEA and Dux IB. We are also thrilled to announce Proxime Accessit to the Dux.

Our 2025 Proxime Accessit recipient has put in an incredible contest and in any other College would be Dux in her own right. This student has come top or joint top in five subjects and gained five scholarships in the practice exams. She has also been an outstanding role model as House Leader in Kelso House and has flourished in the IB pathway. Congratulations to Bonnie Wang.

The 2025 Dux originating from the IB pathway, has come joint top in four of her subjects this year. Further to that, during the College practice examinations she was awarded a total of four scholarships, including an Outstanding in Economics. Julia was also our Durham Head of House. Described by her teachers as dynamic and dedicated, with a keen wit and genuine enthusiasm that uplifts and encourages others. There is no doubt this young woman has an incredibly bright future ahead of her. Congratulations Julia Sung.

Our 2025 Dux originating from the NCEA pathway, is also extremely deserving of this award. As a common theme, she again came top in every subject, joint top in four and outright in two. She then went on to claim seven scholarships this year in the Term 3 practice exams, four at Outstanding level and three at Standard level. This is a student who approaches her studies with conscientiousness and care. Described by her teachers as a talented chemist, a student who possesses the ability to articulate complex ideas, calm and mature, with a deep love of the Classical world, positive, and supportive of others. She has gracefully balanced her responsibilities as Deputy Head Girl alongside her academic commitments. She is continuing a family tradition as both her mother and Aunty were Dux at St Cuthbert’s, our hearty congratulations to Ava Dilly.
