Today we proudly celebrated our top scholars from 2025 at our Scholars’ Assembly, recognising exceptional academic achievement in Level 2 and Level 3 NCEA, the International Baccalaureate, and Scholarship examinations.
Thirty-one 2025 Year 11 Scholars and twenty-eight 2025 Year 12 Scholars were honoured at the assembly, while forty-four 2025 Year 13 Scholars were also recognised for their achievements in absentia.
Students were inspired by an engaging address from our guest speaker, Caroline Ferguson, Chief Operating Officer at Shift Advisory and an Old Girl of the College (Peer Year 1999). Caroline shared reflections from her professional journey, offering valuable insights and encouragement to our students as they consider the many opportunities ahead of them.
The top awards, the Trust Board Scholars were presented by Board Chair Leigh Melville to:
Year 11 Diploma – Cerisa Gu
Cerisa achieved incredible results in the 2025 NZQA Scholarship exams, gaining five scholarships with one at Outstanding level (English). This is a fantastic result for any student, let alone one in Year 11. To complement her outstanding Scholarship results, she also achieved all subjects in the Year 11 Diploma endorsed with Excellence and gained Excellence in NCEA Level 3 Mathematics with Calculus.
Level 2 NCEA – Jessica Wu
Jessica gained an impressive four scholarships in the 2025 NZQA Scholarship exams and achieved all NCEA Level 2 subjects endorsed with Excellence, plus NCEA Level 3 Mathematics with Calculus endorsed with Excellence.
Year 12 IB Diploma – Eassin Wang
Eassin gained a formidable eight NZQA Scholarships in the 2025 exams and a grade six or above in all her Year 12 International Baccalaureate subjects in the 2025 Term 4 Exams.
Level 3 NCEA – Ava Dilly
Ava received nine NZQA scholarships in the 2025 exams. She was one of only 13 students in New Zealand to be announced as a 2025 Premier Award winner for achieving at least four scholarships at Outstanding level in Biology, Classics, English and Geography. At Level 3 she gained five subjects endorsed with Excellence putting her in the Top 5% of all St Cuthbert’s NCEA Level 3 students. It was wonderful to have Ava, now an old girl and our 2025 NCEA Dux, return for the assembly.
Year 13 IB Diploma – Bonnie Wang
Bonnie received eight NZQA scholarships in the 2025 exams, with two at Outstanding level – Latin and Media Studies. In fact, she was the top student in the country in the Latin exam and was one of only 57 students in New Zealand to gain an Outstanding Scholar Award. She also excelled in the International Baccalaureate qualification, achieving a Top Scholar award, with grade 6 or above in all six of her IB Diploma subjects. It was great that Bonnie, also now an old girl and our 2025 Proxime Accessit could return for the ceremony.
