Throughout the year, Year 10 students attend Kahunui in class groups, stepping away from their usual routines to spend 26 days living and learning together at Kahunui – our second campus in the Bay of Plenty. We followed two Year 10 students, Isabel and Meera, on a recent intake as they experienced life away from home and without devices. Living in a house with seven peers, they took greater responsibility for themselves and each other while developing practical life skills, building new relationships and learning through hands on experiences and challenge. Before they left, we asked Isabel and Meera what they expected their Kahunui experience would be like. We caught up with them again on Day 25 to hear, in their own words, how they had adapted, what they had learned about themselves and others.
